*Kiawah Inn is located at West Beach. Villas and the conference center are located at East Beach.

Kiawah Island Resort will add a service charges of $9 per inn room per night or 6% per villa per night to cover all gratuities and extra on-property services. These services include unlimited local phone calls, credit card access calls, 800-number calls, in-room coffee service, and the Kiawah Island shuttle service, which includes a special route for the STFM conference.


Hotel Reservation Deadline

The deadline for reservations is January 24; after that, reservations will be accepted on a space-available basis. Make reservations by calling 800-654-2924. Please request a confirmation number when making your reservations, and in the unlikely event that you have to cancel your reservation, ask for a cancellation confirmation.

Note, if conference attendance exceeds expectations, rooms in the conference block may be sold out prior to the cut-off date. Make your re-servations as soon as possible to ensure your preferred accommodations. Check-in is 4 pm and check-out is 11 am.

If you would like to share a room or villa with a colleague, call STFM at 800-274-2237, ext. 5410. STFM will give you the names of other persons who have expressed an interest in having a roommate, from which you can make your own room-sharing arrangements.


Airfare Discount

STFM's official travel agency, Passport Travel, has negotiated discounted fares for this conference. To take advantage of these special fares and other services, call 800-678-7766 and ask for the STFM travel desk. Passport Travel office hours are 8 am­5:30 pm CST Monday through Friday.


Car Rental Discount

Alamo Rent-a-Car is the official car rental provider for this year's conference. Special discounted rates begin-ning at $32/day or $140/week have been extended to conference attendees. These rates are available 1 week before and after the conference dates and include unlimited free mileage. To make your reservations, call 800-732-3232, request Group ID #443382, rate code GR.


Child Care Services

Babysitting services are available by calling the Kiawah Island Resort concierge desk. Services should be reserved 24 hours in advance. For more information, or to make arrangements, call 800-654-2924.


Ground Transportation

Round-trip service from Charleston International Airport is available through Kiawah Shuttle. Fares are $45 for adults; $22.50 for children 16 years and under, and children under 6 years are free. To make reservations and receive these rates, call 800-654-2924, ext.1000, and mention you are with the STFM conference. Reservations are required at least 48 hours in advance. Drivers will meet you at baggage claim.

Resort shuttle service from guest accommodations to the conference center and throughout the resort is available to conference guests at no charge. Resort shuttle service to area island restaurants and golf courses is available to conference guests and is included in the daily room and villa charges.


Family Activities

Various recreational opportunities are available for families. An orientation will be held Thursday morning.


Continuing Medical Education

This program has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 22.25 Prescribed credit hours by the American Academy of Family Physicians. This activity has been plan-ned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials and Standards of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the AAFP and the STFM. The AAFP is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor continuing education for physicians. The AAFP designates this educational activity for a maximum of 22.25 hours in Category 1 credit toward the American Medical Association Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

This program is cosponsored by PsychoEducational Resources, Inc (PER) and STFM. PER is approved by:

  • American Psychological Association to offer continuing education credits for psychologists
  • National Board of Certified Counselors (05536) to offer continuing education to NCCs. PER maintains responsibility for this program.
  • National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and will be submitting this program for preapproval.
  • Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), for social work continuing education (provider #1008) through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program (800-225-6880). The following states endorse the ASWB program: AK, GA, IN, IA, MD, NM, NC, OR, RI, SC, SD, TX, VI, WA, WI, and WY.

Many state boards of social work, marriage and family therapy, and licensed professional counseling honor these CE sponsorships. Some restrictions may apply. Check with your state board or call PER at 800-892-9249 for information regarding CE approvals.
