Curtis G. Hames Research Award
STFM is accepting nominations for the Curtis G. Hames Research
Award in Family Medicine to be presented during STFM's Annual
Spring Conference in
Baltimore, MD, April 30 - May 4, 2008. The award, supported by the Hames
Endowment of the Medical College of Georgia, is intended to honor
those individuals whose careers over the years exemplify dedication
to research in family medicine. The award recipient is selected
by a committee representing STFM, the American Academy of Family
Physicians, and the North American Primary Care Research Group.
Criteria:
- The recipient of the annual award will be an individual who,
through the course of his or her career, has contributed in a
major, outstanding manner to the development of family medicine
research.
- The annual call for nominations will be announced through the
STFM newsletter each summer. The STFM membership may nominate
for consideration any individual by addressing a letter to the
Selection Committee.
- The Committee may also consider individuals which it identifies
as meritorious whether or not they are nominated through the open
call for nominations.
- The Selection Committee will identify a set of finalists. The
Selection Committee Chair, with the assistance of the STFM staff,
will request a curriculum vitae and key publications from the
finalists and circulate to the Selection Committee. Following
a review of this material, the Selection Committee will make a
final decision.
- The award recipient will be informed of his or her selection
by early winter, to allow the recipient time to prepare an address
to the STFM membership at the Annual Spring Conference. This address
will review the state of the art of an area of family medicine
research with particular emphasis on projected future developments
for the discipline.
Six total copies of the Nomination letter and CVs must be
sent in the packet.
Nomination letters and CVs must be postmarked by November 12,
2007,
