The CERA Fellowship provides one faculty member a yearlong experience with the CERA Steering Committee. Through this part-time fellowship, one family medicine educator receives mentorship and training, laying the groundwork for him or her to be a future scholarly leader in the specialty.The fellowship term begins in May during the STFM Annual Spring Conference and ends the following May at the subsequent STFM Annual Spring Conference.Preference will be given to faculty members in the first 5 years of their academic careers.
Responsibilities
- Attend three consecutive meetings of the CERA Steering Committee, including the in-person meeting at the STFM Annual Spring Conference (attendance is required for graduation from the fellowship program).
- Serve as a mentor for at least one research group in conjunction with an established mentor; including submitting paper for publication (paper submission may happen post-fellowship).
- Score proposals for one CERA survey during the year.
- Participate in scoring the CERA Paper of Year competition.
- Hold a monthly call with the chair of the CERA Steering Committee.
- Submit at least one proposal in response to CERA calls for proposals.
Eligibility
Applicant must be:
- A full-time or part-time faculty members in a family medicine department or family medicine residency program
- An active member of at least one CAFM organization
- Preference will be given to faculty members in the first 5 years of their academic careers.
Funding for Fellows
All costs, such as tuition, travel, and registration fees, associated with the fellowship will be the responsibility of the fellow or the fellow’s home program. CERA leadership will donate their time and effort to CERA and the fellow. A letter from the applicant’s department chair or program director pledging the monetary and time support will be required with the application.
