June 1, 2025—The STFM Nominations Committee is accepting self-nominations for the 2026 president-elect and member-at-large positions on the STFM Board of Directors. Both the open positions have 3-year terms. Read the full job descriptions and expectations.
The STFM Nominations Committee considers many factors when selecting candidates, including:
- Specific perspectives and expertise desired for optimal Board performance, such as leadership experience, critical thinking, and vision.
- Unique expertise of the individual.
- A commitment to represent the interests of STFM and its membership over personal interests.
- History of STFM involvement.
- Diversity in a broad sense – gender, age, degree, race, ethnicity, role, and geography.
The deadline for applications is July 21, 2025. If interested, send a photo and statement of interest, listing your experience in the requested areas (no more than two pages) to Sandy Van Tuyl at svantuyl@stfm.org. The Nominations Committee will confirm candidates by December 1, 2025.
Student and Resident Representatives to STFM Board of Directors
Family medicine students and residents interested in developing leadership skills can apply for the student and resident representative positions on the STFM Board of Directors.
Applications are due July 25, 2025.
The representatives serve a 1-year term and may be eligible for a second term. You must be in attendance at AAFP FURTURE (formerly National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students) in July 31 – August 2, 2025 to be eligible to be considered for this role.
