January 5, 2026 — Mark your calendar now for a new training opportunity: CBME Certificate of Distinction: Adaptive Coaching in GME. This is a time-limited learning initiative of STFM that will engage two sequential cohorts (May 2027–March 2028 and May 2028–March 2029) of residency faculty. This 10-month longitudinal program supports meaningful behavior change and integration of coaching skills into day-to-day faculty roles. Coaches will gain skills to coach residents through development and implementation of individualized learning plans, and will also learn to provide more effective feedback. The program's time commitment includes: 10 total hours of asynchronous learning (ideally completed prior to the program start at the STFM Annual Spring Conference), 6 hours of in-person learning at the conference, and 2 hours of learning a month for 10 months following the conference. The program is being developed by faculty experienced in developmental coaching and adult learning models, balancing feasibility for busy family medicine educators with sufficient longitudinal contact for lasting mindset and behavior change. This is a unique, limited opportunity. The call for applications for the first cohort will open in September 2026.
