North American Primary Care Research Group Announces New Executive Director, Julie Sutter, MD

Sept 26, 2019 — The North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) is pleased to announce Julie Sutter as its new Executive Director.

Sutter comes to NAPCRG with extensive experience in association operations. She has held several senior leadership and operations roles for health care societies and has worked in a fast-paced association management company as the executive director of a nonprofit association of members specializing in fund-raising research and data analysis. She led the organization through a period of change and growth under a new management model. During her tenure, membership grew by 35 percent.

In her work for a national association of 18,000 orthodontist members, Sutter streamlined governance operations, strategic planning, and communications for a network of local and regional leaders. Her accomplishments there included the launch of a leadership development program, a new board and committee orientation program, and a new online collaboration platform aimed at sharing information and enhancing learning opportunities across the network.

Sutter holds a Certified Association Professional credential, a Master's degree in Public Administration, and a Master's degree in Learning and organizational Change, which focused on developing leadership skills in supporting teams and organizations through change.

NAPCRG is a multidisciplinary organization for primary care researchers in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and through the world. Founded in 1972 and oriented to family medicine, NAPCRG welcomes members from all primary care generalist disciplines and related fields, including epidemiology, behavioral sciences, and health services research. More information can be found at napcrg.org.

STFM has a management agreement with NAPCRG and participated in the executive director search process.
