Now Accepting STFM Foundation Student Scholar Nominations

Nominations Are Due June 19, 2024

April 26, 2024—The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine is accepting nominations for the STFM Foundation Student Scholar. Scholarship winners receive free registration to attend the 2025 STFM Conference on Medical Student Education and up to $500 to cover expenses. The American Academy of Family Physicians will support one target school student with up to $1,000 in travel and lodging. STFM will provide that student with free conference registration. 

Student nominations are made by family medicine department faculty. Nominations are due June 19, 2024. Email the nomination materials to Sandy VanTuyl

  • Completed Nomination Form 
  • Letter of support stating why the student is being nominated. Nominations should describe why the student demonstrates promise as an educator, advocate, or scholar in family medicine.

Once nominations are received, the student will be notified by STFM on or before July 1, and asked to fulfill the following requirements to complete the application process:

  • Personal statement addressing how they have demonstrated at least one of STFM's core values and how at least one of these values will guide their career (Personal statement form will be sent via email with notification email of nomination)
  • Submission of the student's CV related to service & leadership.
  • Poster abstract (Will be submitted through the STFM website; instructions will be sent via email.)

The student must return their personal statement and poster abstract by July 23rd to be considered for the scholarship. Note: Student scholars must submit their own independent poster presentation as submitter and lead presenter. Co-presenter's are allowed. They cannot submit for multiple categories.

Additional dedicated Foundation funding is available for underrepresented in medicine students.

All STFM Foundation Student Scholarship recipients will be notified in fall of this year.
