Important Update: 2020 Annual Spring Conference and COVID-19
Dear STFM Colleagues,
Given the news about Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), we recognize that you may have questions about traveling to the STFM Annual Spring Conference in Salt Lake City. Our leadership and staff review updates from trusted sources daily, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and US Department of State.
Unless national or regional government travel restrictions prevent the conference from taking place, STFM plans to hold the 2020 annual meeting as scheduled. Should restrictions be enacted, STFM members will be notified immediately. Based on current information:
- The federal government has not issued any travel bans within the United States.
- Here is the STFM cancellation policy. For this conference, we are extending the refund deadline so that those who must cancel due to institutional travel bans and/or health concerns can get a 50% refund up to the start date of the conference.
- We are exploring all contingency plans, including a virtual conference option as an addition to our in-person conference.
Each year, the STFM Annual Spring Conference is greatly anticipated by attendees and presenters alike. Along with hundreds of educational opportunities, our members look forward to “coming home” to their family medicine network of colleagues, mentors, and long-time friends. It’s a treasured time of learning, sharing, and even more importantly now, reassuring one another. We don’t want to cancel this important community event unless it’s absolutely required. We look forward to seeing you.
