Now Accepting Self-Nominations for the STFM Board of Directors

June 1, 2022—The STFM Nominations Committee is accepting self-nominations for the 2023 president-elect and member-at-large positions on the STFM Board of Directors. Both positions have 3-year terms. Read the full job descriptions and expectations.

The STFM Nominations Committee considers many factors when selecting candidates, including:

  1. Specific perspectives and expertise desired for optimal Board performance, such as, leadership experience, critical thinking, and vision
  2. Unique expertise of the individual
  3. A commitment to represent the interests of STFM and its membership over personal interests
  4. History of STFM involvement
  5. Diversity in a broad sense – gender, age, degree, race, ethnicity, role, and geography

The deadline for applications is August 15, 2022. If interested, send a photo and statement of interest, listing your experience in the requested areas (no more than two pages) to Sandy Van Tuyl at svantuyl@stfm.org. The Nominations Committee will confirm candidates by January 1, 2023. 

Medical Student and Resident Positions

Medical students and family medicine residents interested in developing leadership skills can apply for the student representative or resident representative position on the STFM Board of Directors. Applications are due July 21, 2022. Student and resident representatives serve one-year terms, and may be eligible for a second term.

Student and resident members of the STFM Board of Directors:

  • Engage in discussions to inform decisions made by the STFM Board of Directors 
  • Have voting rights
  • Serve on STFM's Medical Student Education Committee (medical student) or the Graduate Medical Education Committee (resident)
  • Serve as ambassadors to engage medical students and residents in STFM activities and academic family medicine
