Call for Members of an Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education Task Force

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS November 4, 2024

Position duration: January 2025 – December 2026

October 1, 2024—STFM is accepting applications for a task force to help STFM meet a new strategic tactic to lead the adoption, implementation, scholarship, and evaluation of ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI) in family medicine education.

Task force members will develop and implement strategies and resources to educate family medicine education teams and learners on advances in AI. Specifically, the task force will:

  • Conduct a gap analysis
  • Identify and aggregate available training and resources
  • Create new resources, as needed
  • Create and implement a plan for faculty development
  • Create and implement a plan for disseminating resources

The task force will be chaired by Steven Lin, MD, Director, Stanford Healthcare AI Applied Research Team, Division of Primary Care and Population Health, Stanford University School of Medicine.

Task force members will be expected to attend the following:

  • Virtual Meeting: February 6, 2025; 12:00-2:00 PT / 1:00-3:00 MT / 2:00-4:00 CT / 3:00-5:00 ET

  • In Person Meeting: May 1-2, 2025 prior to the STFM Annual Spring Conference in Salt Lake City

  • In Person Preconference Workshop: May 3, 2025

  • Virtual Meeting: August 7, 2025; 12:00-2:00 PT / 1:00-3:00 MT / 2:00-4:00 CT / 3:00-5:00 ET

  • Virtual Meeting: November 6, 2025; 12:00-2:00 PT / 1:00-3:00 MT / 2:00-4:00 CT / 3:00-5:00 ET

  • Virtual Meeting: February 5, 2026; 12:00-2:00 PT / 1:00-3:00 MT / 2:00-4:00 CT / 3:00-5:00 ET

  • In Person Meeting: April 29-30, 2026 prior to the STFM Annual Spring Conference in New Orleans, LA

  • Virtual Meeting: August 6, 2026; 12:00-2:00 PT / 1:00-3:00 MT / 2:00-4:00 CT / 3:00-5:00 ET

  • Virtual Meeting: November 5, 2026; 12:00-2:00 PT / 1:00-3:00 MT / 2:00-4:00 CT / 3:00-5:00 ET

Travel expenses for task force meetings and preconference workshop fees will be reimbursed by STFM. Task force members may have assignments between meetings and will be encouraged to contribute to the dissemination of the resources through presentations and publications.
