Call for Members of a Professionalism in Medical Education Task Force
Deadline for Applications Is March 20, 2025
February 7, 2025—STFM is accepting applications for a task force to modernize how family medicine defines, teaches, and assesses professionalism that is challenged by changes in technology, market forces, and health care delivery systems. Tenure on the task force will be May 2025–May 2027.
The task force will:
- Convene a Professionalism in Family Medicine Summit to create an updated definition of professionalism
- Develop and release professionalism curriculum for residents and third- and fourth-year medical students
- Identify or create competency-based tools to assess resident professionalism
- Deliver faculty development through conference presentations and virtual training sessions
The task force will be chaired by STFM President Joseph Gravel, MD, Medical College of Wisconsin, chair of Family and Community Medicine.
Task Force Meeting Times
Task force members will be expected to attend the following:
- Virtual meeting: July 15, 2025; 10 am–12 pm PT / 11 am–1 pm MT / 12–2 pm CT / 1–3 pm ET
- In-person Summit and Task Force meeting: September 4–5, 2025 (full days), in Chicago
- Virtual meeting: November 13, 2025; 10 am–12 pm PT / 11 am–1 pm MT / 12–2 pm CT / 1–3 pm ET
- In-person meeting: January 8–9, 2026; 1–5 pm on January 8, and 8 am–12 pm on January 9; location TBD
- Virtual meeting: March 12, 2026; 10 am–12 pm PT / 11 am–1 pm MT / 12–2 pm CT / 1–3 pm ET
- In-person meeting: June 4–5, 2026; 1–5 pm on June 4, and 8 am–12 pm on June 5; location TBD
- Virtual meeting: September 10, 2026; 10 am–12 pm PT / 11 am–1 pm MT / 12–2 pm CT / 1–3 pm ET
- In-person meeting: January 14–15, 2027; 1–5 pm on June 4, and 8 am–12 pm on June 5; location TBD
Travel expenses for task force meetings will be reimbursed by STFM. Task force members may have assignments between meetings and will be encouraged to contribute to the dissemination of the resources through presentations and publications.
