Call for Representative to CFAS
STFM is seeking an individual to serve as our representative to the AAMC Council of Faculty and Academic Societies (CFAS).
The term of office for the STFM representative to CFAS is 3 years and begins in May 2026 at the conclusion of the 2026 STFM Annual Spring Conference. The term ends at the conclusion of the 2029 STFM Annual Spring Conference.The selected applicant is eligible to serve a second 3-year term. How to Apply
If you are interested, please submit a letter of interest and biosketch to Mary Williams by March 19, 2026. The president will forward a recommendation to the STFM Executive Committee for approval. Email STFM Executive Director and CEO Stacy Brungardt, CAE, with questions about the role.
Responsibilities
The STFM CFAS Representative will be responsible for representing STFM priorities at CFAS and, when applicable, within other areas of the AAMC. The representative is expected to:
- Attend and actively participate in the fall AAMC Learn Serve Lead Meeting, including sustaining CFAS-related activities and participating in networking opportunities with other family medicine CFAS representatives.
- Participate in and encourage involvement of family medicine colleagues in at least one CFAS committee or work group.
- Actively pursue leadership roles within CFAS, particularly within the CFAS Program Committee, Nominations Committee, or CFAS Administrative Board.
- Partner with other family medicine organizational CFAS representatives to maintain communication, coordinate leadership opportunities, and promote engagement of family medicine CFAS participants.
- Provide communication between STFM and CFAS, including preparing reports for the STFM Board of Directors summarizing relevant AAMC activities and highlights from CFAS meetings.
Selection Criteria
The representative shall be a current member of STFM and should have demonstrated commitment to and understanding of the Society and its priorities. Experience with AAMC activities and CFAS, and engagement in broader academic or interprofessional initiatives, are preferred.
Fiscal Note/Travel Support
Registration fees and travel expenses are covered for the AAMC Learn Serve Lead Meeting. If the representative chooses to attend the CFAS Spring Meeting, those expenses must be covered by the representative’s institution or personal funds.
